A New Era of Staking Rewards

Unlike previous launches that unfairly benefited insiders with regard to staking rewards, IP staking follows a fair launch principle.

There are no early staking rewards for the foundation or early contributors – nobody can earn staking rewards before the community does.

We are currently in the Singularity Period, which is estimated to last approximately 42 days after our January 19 Genesis Block, or block 0. Everyone is welcome to stake or delegate—but no staking rewards will be earned. This procedure offers everyone a chance to decide to stake.

With the Big Bang Block, staking rewards will officially begin. Each block will distribute 1.9477989871 IP tokens, amounting to approximately 55,555 IP tokens per day based on a 3-second block time.

Time-Weighted Staking Model

Staking is fundamental to the security and sustainability of any Proof-of-Stake blockchain. A well-designed staking mechanism not only secures the network but also incentivizes long-term commitment from the right participants. It ensures that economic incentives align with the network’s security and mission.

Story’s staking time-weighted staking model encourages long-term supporters. Longer staking periods yield higher rewards, promoting stability and commitment to the network’s vision:

• Flexible staking → 1x boost
• 90 days → 1.1x boost
• 360 days → 1.5x boost
• 540 days → 2x boost
• Locked tokens → 0.5x penalty

For instance, if you stake 2,000 IP tokens for 90 days, you will receive rewards as if 2,200 IP tokens were staked. Even if you extend staking beyond the initial 90-day period, the booster remains active.

In order to further supplement network security, locked tokens can be staked. However, we strongly believe that locked tokens should be treated differently to unlocked tokens, with significantly lower rewards (0.5x). Further, these rewards will be locked for a minimum of 6 months for core contributors, ensuring that the community is prioritized.
